Quite possibly in the top 10 best books i've ever read.
I literally jumped in my seat a few times throughout...
and while you can connect with the characters in various ways.. it made me realize once again how lucky I am to have been born a US citizen.
As much bitching as we do about OUR country.. things could be so much worse.
Awesome book.

This was a really good book.. up until the part when Sinclair's Socialist ideals started rearing their ugly head..
But anyway, it really gave a picture of what life was like during the "Manufacturing Age".. I'm so glad I didn't live back THEN. Some of the descriptions of the meat industry made me want to barf! Like how they would package diseased meat.. or spoiled meat.. or clean their feet off in the water that they put meat into. Grossssssssssss!
